Every Schofield & Sims English Skills book is divided into three sections, each
comprising 12 one-page tests covering spelling, word structure, vocabulary, sent
ence formation, punctuation and grammar.
Each section also contains two tasks
providing a tailor made context in which pupils may apply their developing skil
ls. English Skills 1 is for pupils who can write short simple sentences and ques
tions using simple vocabulary and punctuation. They have mastered the basics of
reading and writing, but may not always spell words correctly.

learn to: extend sentences and write compound sentences, check sense and grammat
ical agreement, find alternatives for everyday words and make correct spelling c
