When I first read the blurb of A Face Like Glass, I was confused and curious at the same time. A girl named Neverfell who falls in a net of mysterious and dazzling tunnels? A dangerous place where its inhabitants have to wear masks in order to be able to express themselves? And they are all master artisans of cheese making or wine brewing? What is going on in this book? I was not ready for such a twisted, intricate and well-crafted adventure. Every word is determined to transport you to the dusty halls of Caverna, this underground realm, side by side with Neverfell, a tall, pale and jittery girl, too honest for a treacherous world where everyone knows which mask to wear and the right words to say. I had been longing for a fantasy packed read and I found this gem, abundant with beautiful descriptions and characters with moving stories. I also loved that there is no romantic interest for Neverfell, and I really appreciated the work put into the bonds she develops during her journey. I do not recommend it for anyone who is a beginner in the English language; I believe this is an advanced read.
